Continuing from the last discussion, let us examine this generational curse and where the doctrine comes from.

“But if this sinful man has, in turn, a son who sees all his father’s wickedness, so that he fears God and decides against that kind of life; he doesn’t go up on the mountains to feast before the idols and worship them and does not commit adultery; …and obeys my laws-he shall not die because of his father’s sins; he shall surely live. But his father shall die for his own sins because he is cruel and robs and does wrong. “‘What?’ you ask. ‘Doesn’t the son pay for his father’s sins?’ No! For if the son does what is right and keeps my laws, he shall surely live. The one who sins is the one who dies. The son shall not be punished for his father’s sins, nor the father for his son’s. The righteous person will be rewarded for his own goodness and the wicked person for his wickedness. But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins and begins to obey my laws and do what is just and right, he shall surely live and not die. All his past sins will be forgotten, and he shall live because of his goodness. Ezekiel 18:14-22 (The Living Bible)

Friends, don’t let any man put you back into the bondage of what you have been freed from. This doctrine is the doctrine of men and it is false! My Pastor once wrote this: “Generational curses may sound like a theological argument, it is nevertheless a doctrine of men”.

What this doctrine does is to make the word of God ineffective when you believe in it. It is a doctrine engineered by Satan in order to keep the people of God in bondage. The devil does not want us to be free. So the best way he does that is by keeping the truth of God’s word away from us. He does it by becoming a lying spirit in the mouth of these so called teachers or prophets.

It is clear from this Scripture that a righteous person (the Christian) cannot suffer generational curses. Don’t believe any man that tells you that. If you find yourself in an environment where such things are taught please use the exit door. The more you keep hearing such lies the more your mind is formed on such things and you will see your experience conforming to this false teachings.

‘The son shall not be punished for his father’s sins, nor the father for his son’s.’

Believe God’s word for God’s sake, it does not matter your experiences whether good or bad, God will not punish you for the sins of your father, neither does the devil have the power to punish you for such sins. You are blessed beyond the curse, you are the blessed of God. This is the truth of God’s word. His plan towards you is this. Believe it!!

“And yet the people of Israel keep saying: ‘The Lord is unfair!’ O people of Israel, it is you who are unfair, not I. I will judge each of you, O Israel, and punish or reward each according to his own actions. Oh, turn from your sins while there is yet time. Put them behind you and receive a new heart and a new spirit. For why will you die, O Israel? I do not enjoy seeing you die,” the Lord God says. “Turn, turn and live! Ezekiel 18:29-32 (The Living Bible)

This is something I love about God’s character- He is a JUST God. God is not unfair. He does not punish the children for the errors of the parents. He punishes or rewards each according to their own actions. He does not even wish any death, all He wants is people turning from the sin to Him. If only they will turn they will surely live. God does not lie; His word is true.

Jesus – The Only One who Suffered For The Sins Of The World.

He is the only Person that has been punished for our sins. God did this through Christ our Lord.

For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:19, 21 (New Living Translation)

“He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing.” 1 Peter 2:24 (The Message)

“Surely you know that Christ showed up in order to get rid of sin. There is no sin in him, and sin is not part of his program.” 1 John 3:5 (The Message)

We are being declared not guilty. That is what justification means. We are no longer guilty of the offence in Christ Jesus. Whatever you did in the past that is hurting you is only a mirage. Stop allowing yourself to be tormented by the ghost of the past.
Justification does not mean to ‘make just’ or ‘to make a person righteous’ (in the sense of transforming our nature) neither is it a change of character. The word means “declared righteous”.
Someone defined justification as ‘the act by which God who is holy, declares the believing sinner just and acceptable before Him, because Christ carried his sin on the cross, and has been made his righteousness’.

The pronouncement of a verdict of ‘not guilty’ in our favour; Romans 3:24, 28. When someone is being discharged and acquitted in the human court it is on the ground that he has not committed the offence or that the evidence did not establish his guilt. But in our case, we did commit the offence and the evidence established our guilt and condemned us. So our justification is based on Christ ‘who knew no sin’ but bore our sins on the cross, being made ‘sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21).

When a sinner believes in Jesus Christ, he is justified and treated as righteous and his sin is no more laid to his charge.
